| HKSA Movie Night | ||
Description: Please join us for HKSA Movie Night, our last event of the quarter. It will be held on Tuesday 11/29 in the assembly room of Bechtel International Center! Dinner will be served at 5:30pm, and the Hong Kong movie Bodyguards and Assassins (十月圍城) will start at around 6pm. About the movie: Set in 1905, the story is about Sun Wen’s arrival in Hong Kong to overthrow the Qing Dynasty and the bodyguards who swore to protect him. This movie has won multiple awards in both Hong Kong and Asian film festivals. English subtitles will be included, so feel free to join us even if you do not speak Cantonese! | HKSA Thanksgiving Hotpot | ||
Description: HKSA is excited to announce a FREE hotpot event and would like to invite you to join us for our hotpot dinner. We are planning to spend a night before the Thanksgiving recess, and have a dinner to socialize with our peers. This hotpot is not just a pot filled with boiling water. Nope, not at all. We will provide a soup and dipping sauces to highlights the true flavors of each ingredient. Our dinner also includes a wide variety of meats, vegetables, dumplings, and more. You can also mix your own dipping sauce and create a personalize dipping sauce using any of the following: soy sauce, chili oil, sesame oil, garlic, onion, etc. Very delicious! If we exceed a certain anticipated attendee count, we will need to set a cap and close our sign-up sheet. But we don’t anticipate this to happen. | AASA spring culture show | ||
Description: AASA (Asian American Student Organization) is planning a spring culture show. Here is their announcement text: The show is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 21 of next year. Your performance will be entirely up to you creatively, as long as it is related to our theme of diversity and representation of all of our subgroups cultures. Our preliminary theme is: HOT POT. COME OUT TO SEE STANFORD'S SPICIEST STUDENT GROUPS IN ONE GIANT SHOW. SO MANY FLAVORS, YOU'LL WANT SECONDS. Examples of the types of acts typically featured in culture shows are: dances, spoken word/slam poetry, presentations, speakers, skits etc. We also request that the performance stay within 10 minutes. However, if you feel that more time is needed, please let us know! As part of the show, we will also be putting on a mini-fashion show which we hope all of the groups can participate in in addition to their individual acts. AASA is soliciting contribution for their show, and they also emphasize that they will be available to enhance any performance aspects if you request assistance. If you are interested in performing in their show, please let Stephan know by November 14. It would be exciting to have an HKSA representative. |

Description: This is likely the largest gathering of Stanford students every year. Basically it's a huge party with live performances (music, spoken word, ...) from student groups and food. It appears as if the entire student community will be present at our art museum. You will meet lots of new people. If you are looking for a group to attend this event with, HKSA members will gather from 09:00pm to 09:10pm at the museum's main entrance at the intersection of Lomita Dr and Museum Way.
